The German landmark Cologne Cathedral recently unveiled a new stained-glass window design by world famous German painter and photographer Gerhard Richter. Richter, whose work is some of the most expensive amongst living artists all over the world, and is a long time resident of this city in western Germany, donated his time and artistic talents to the project. The beautiful abstract design includes “11,500 squares of glass in 72 colors” filling “the 20-meter-high window.” Visit this article from Spiegel Online to see photos of the window and to read more about the project.
