The Background
Pompei was commissioned by L'Oreal to design the L'Oreal Color Space, an interactive, showroom and retail space pop-up experience, designed to travel for several months to various locations around the United States allowing women the opportunity to explore, and be introduced to L'Oreal's existing products and new lines, with one-to-one assistance from L'Oreal's Brand Ambassadors.
The Client
L'Oreal is a total beauty care company that combines the latest in technology with the highest in quality for the ultimate in luxury beauty at mass. Since its creation in 1909, L’Oreal has remained committed to its mission to further the cause of beauty the world over.
The Concept
The L'Oreal Color Space was inspired by the concept of The Total Beauty Experience. The L'Oreal Total Beauty Experience is an exciting, engaged experience where women can explore, learn, and participate in the L'Oreal experience. The Total Beauty Experience takes place in a glamorous and innovative environment that presents L'Oreal products through a series of engaging and inspiring experience pods that empower customers to discover their own unique beauty and to learn about the array of L'Oreal products that can be tailored to their individual styles and needs.
The Design
Designed around the concept of “The Total Beauty Experience,” the space is glamorous, illuminated, and energizing. Visitors stroll down a red carpet leading to a space filled with bold colors, imagery of L'Oreal models and celebrities. The space includes a Reception Area, a Skin Lab, a Cosmetic Center, a Hair Studio, a Stage for personalized styling treatments, a Photo Booth, a state of the art True Light Pod, a Women of Worth area, and Point of Sale area. L'Oreal Professional Consultants and Brand Ambassadors accompany the visitors along their journey, offering suggestions and answering questions.
The Result
The launch of the L'Oreal Color Space was extremely successful with more than 90,000 people becoming part of the L'Oreal Total Beauty experience within the first five days.
