New York Road Runners - New York Mini 10K
At a time when even Olympic officials believed that women were physically incapable of running long distances, the 1972 Mini was the world's first and only women-only road race. This event commemorates an extraordinary achievement in women’s running that helped to advance the world’s view of women in sports. 78 runners participated in the very first Mini - a huge turn out at the time - and the race now draws over 3,000 runners, including some of the world’s top distance runners.
